Here is a link to a video by Nicholas Kristof that was shot in the village where Adam works. This video highlights the work of the Carter Center, and Adam has taken over the position of the Technical Advisor in this town.

Came across this NEJM interview of Jimmy Carter and Don Hopkins talking about the Guinea Worm Eradication Program. Check it out if you get a chance.
For those of you who might not be able to find the video, here it is.
About two weeks ago, I got a call from The Carter Center that dramatically changed our plans for the summer and…well…the entire next year. I’ve accepted a position as a Technical Advisor for the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Southern Sudan. A little over a month after getting back from the bike ride, I shuttled off to Juba, but not before proposing to Emily. Though we wish we had more than a week together as an engaged couple, I think we both feel a little bit better about having something substantial to lean on during our time apart. As soon as I get a moment, I’ll try to post some pictures from our engagement day.
So, despite the previous entry about continuing a blog for our summer fun in Montana, Okoboji, and Chicago, this blog will more than likely turn into a Guinea Worm blog. In about 36 hours, I’ll be heading out to my field placement in Lakes state, a couple hours north of Juba. Until then, here’s some more information about The Carter Center and Guinea Worm. The website is equipped with all sorts of diagrams, videos, and pictures. There’s even a 10 minute video that features the work of technical advisors, like me, in South Sudan. Enjoy.

Hi, I’m Adam. “Another Thing” is my new blog. I had so much fun with the blog for my coast-to-coast bike ride, that I decided to continue it here. You can find the older cycling blog, “Riding for World Health,” under a new domain name: www.adamsr4wh.tumblr.com This new blog will basically just serve as an extension to the previous one. Hopefully, I’ll get some pictures and stuff up from this summer in Chicago, Okoboji, Montana, and anywhere else I end up going.
